The Cremation Process
We offer affordable cremation packages throughout New Zealand
Kiwi Cremations offers New Zealand families a low cost alternative to traditional funeral services. We make the process as transparent and straight forward as possible. We use trusted local providers to facilitate the transportation and cremation while you deal directly with our funeral consultants.
Simply email or telephone us and we’ll guide you through our simple 6 step process – Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm
We’ll talk you through the process and gather information about the person who has died. We’ll make sure our service fits your specific needs and offer advice to help you through the next few days. We’ll then develop a plan to deliver on the next steps.
In order to maintain our low prices, we require full payment – but only once you’re comfortable with our plan. Payment can be made via online banking or credit card.
We liaise with our local provider to uplift the deceased and bring them to the funeral home for care until the final arrangements are concluded. This is done between the hours of 8:30am and 5pm weekdays. The contractor will ask you to complete the cremation paperwork – this is usually done when they uplift the person from the place of death.
The contractor will care for the deceased at their funeral home until the cremation can take place – usually within 24 hours.
Our funeral consultant will discuss the Death Registration requirements and obtain this information from you. This allows us to register the death and order a New Zealand Death Certificate, which you will need to administer the estate (e.g. closing bank accounts etc.). You’ll receive the Death Certificate directly from Internal Affairs about 7 working days after the cremation takes place.
This occurs at the discretion of the Crematorium and Local Contractor – usually within 24 hours of uplift and during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 5pm). You will be notified when the person has been delivered to the Crematorium.
After the cremation we will contact you regarding the ashes. This is usually 4-7 days later. We’ll also talk to you about other options such as holding a Memorial Service, interring the ashes in a cemetery or purchasing an urn.
